Slow search results!

I am experiencing really slow search results. Is there a way to speed up the results with a plugin or a fix.

1) Do I need to do anything to override the themes search function?

2) Are you still planning to improve the themes search in the next upgrade?

We are working on search functionality it.
Till next update you can use plugin posted above.

 

That plug in doe not solve the issue at all
1) it takes me outside of the website and onto Google to show me search results
2) it's confusing for users as they will see 2 search boxes in the header (which don't search very well) and one somewhere else - that takes them to another website - Google

When is the upgraded search function coming? I am about to launch a big project on this theme and need to know it will work and not put customers off!

I know you're working hard on this... it's a new (ish) theme so it's got bugs to work out. The search functionality is essential and I look forward to the next update where the search box works. I'm launching our site on Monday and I'm afraid it won't work properly as a search directory.

Do you have any estimated time of when the new search functionality will be available?

 

Hey northstar - agreed - search is really bad and support have been working on rewriting it for a month or two at least.

I'd also like to know when the search will be fixed. It's essential to the success of any directory and now very urgent!

 

Hello Mo,

The core WordPress search sorts data based on most recent data first rather than relevancy. We wanted to improve that as we thought it might not be very good for directory type of site. It will take some time because we are working on enhancing the core search itself. I can't tell you the exact date when it will be released but it would come out soon.

So, it's not the theme which is the problem but it is the core search which is really not that efficient for directory type of sites.

 

http://yoast.com/wordpress-search/ - We would like to try out the fix given in this link, but when we tried to look for the 'the_title' inside the search.php file, it wasn't there. Can you please help us or is this fix even applicable to work with this theme

 

Theme Updated to v1.7.2. We have improved the Search feature in GeoCraft Theme in this update.
