Does anyone knows a widget that creates an advanced search? Example: The person who place a listing has to fill in the form some options like price, type, city etc. so that people can filter the results.. Maybe its already possible but I dont know how. Thanks
Hope someone can answer this question.. For my business ( I would like to create) it is important that people can search by city, type business and price.. How can I realise this? I like this theme but If this is not possible I have to look for another theme. There are other template with the same concept with this function, but I like inkthemes See the picture below. That is all I need. I cannot find a good plugin
Hello, Currently we are not planning to add this feature in our theme, But will try to add it in our future update and we will inform you after such update.
I agree with you Alioun, if this option is possible then it would be the best theme ever. Because this funtion is not build in I am trying the templatic theme Realtr --> http://templatic.com/demos/?theme=realtr. They have the option where you can set the custum fields in the backend (same as geocraft) to insert a custom field into the search box. That is really a missing in this theme! Now I am trying to cutomize Realtr but i prever Geocraft. So Inktheme Team, buy REALTR and look at there backend and Add-listing property. Copy that to GeoCraft and you will have a lot more customers ;-)
I'm looking for this feature also It would really Add to the features of this theme and compete with another directory that already has an advanced search widget
Why are you not planing to add it? This Exact type of search is used by the top WordPress Directories out there. Why in GODs name would you not include a Location based search in a Directory? It should have been the first feature added. Everyone here that is running a serious directory will agree with me.
Hello, The GeoCraft Theme comes with an inbuilt support for searching listing based on type of business and the location. For Example: You can do a search Restaurants in London (See Image: http://screencast.com/t/Xrcpxvd83upB) In that case, restaurants will be keyword in either category name, tag name, content or listing title. London keyword will be in the Address field while submitting the listing. The feature you see in the Realtr theme is actually available in our Homebuilder theme too. It works by assigning single home to multiple categories. For example when someone lists their home: they select the appropriate multiple categories, like "City Category Eg: London", "Pricing Range Category Eg: $250000 to $500000", "Type of Property Eg: For Rent" Category, Which than can be filtered out easily. In case of directory sites, generally when businesses insert their listings they do not select so many categories while submitting their listings which at the end of the day will not give very fine filter results. If you want to do that you can follow the same steps, create lots of categories assign listing to multiple categories after which you would be required to create a custom code to show different types of categories in different select boxes, which can be filtered out as you need.
How would a user search for Business's in the area code of 11224? How would a user search for business's in the Town of Brooklyn? Can they do this with the basic search? What we need is a Search like the one in the first post that does State, City, Zip, Business Category, ect. Can you make that happen is it do-able?
I entirely agree with all of you: an "Advanced Search" function is a MUST for the next version of Geocraft. The reason is simple: Inkthemes' Team offers a very good "Custom Fields" function in the Admin, this function must go with an "Advanced Search" function in the Front-End.
I would like a search feature as described above too. I suggested this months ago, and many others agreed. It would be good to have a search that only shows what is in the directory - what I mean is that it shows all the business, locations etc that exist so that customers can choose from those options. This also means that the search will never show 'nothing found'. e.g. If I do not have any Greek restaurants listed in South London, and someone searches for this, then they will find nothing and possibly go to another site to search. But if I have listings shown in a drop down/tick boxes - all restaurants / all locations - then customers choose from within those options and will always get a result. This is another reason to have this feature that is requested by so many people. Please include it in a future update soon. Thank you.
