Shouldn't premium and/or featured listings sort to top of page?

The title says it all.... I have a site with lots of free listings and a handful of premium/featured listings. When I select a category page... shouldn't the premium and/or featured listings be sorted to the top of the page?

I asked this a while back and support suggested a plugin to sort listings order - but you have to do it manually, which of course is not convenient, especially if business change from one to the other, of if you have hundreds/thousands of listings.

We need a way for this to happen on autopilot - support, can you do this?

It makes sense. Premium listings should of course show higher up and before free listings.

I'd agree and this is a feature that I would also like to see.

    Hello,

Initially when theme was launched, It was working in a same way you are asking.
But because of members request we have changed it. Repetitive theme updates will also affect other users site.
So unfortunately now it is not possible for us to change it again. Sorry

What about the option to change it on or off ?
featured Listing should be just that featured on top of the list.
Please add it back with a switch

their logic is you wanted it the other way now suffer we are not changing it. I'm about sick of the lack of support they have. I'm sorry I bought this theme. Didn't realize there was so much more that it needed as far as functionality
If I had another Wordpress Directory theme that was ready to go I would switch.

I also believe this is an important feature that needs to be included. It would be consistent with most similar directory sites to have the premium/paid listings displayed in more visible site positions automatically. I understand you removed this auto sort function at the request of previous users early on, however the ability to provide higher visibility is still quite important to most, if not all, paying customers. I have tried a couple different plugins as mentioned but have not been able to accomplish the desired result. Is it possible to at least come up with an 'approved'/documented method of auto-sorting these Paid listings to the top of the sort order, short of recoding the theme, as an option for those of us who have customers that are expecting this? Much appreciate your continued consideration on this topic - thank you!

    I agree,

An option to display paid as sticky would be nice. However forcing it on the theme may be un-wise. An on / off sticky paid button in the admin dashboard however could prove quite useful for some GeoCraft users.

Personally I think that is the most BS (yes, I said 'BS') answer I have ever read by a 'support' person. Why would a developer remove something without converting it into an option to enable or disable based on the website owner's preferences.

It's easy to say "we did that once and then removed it" because we can't prove whether that is true or not. Personally, I dispute it because of what I said above; "why would a developer remove a function that he/she slaved over coding rather than make it optional?"

If they (developer) ever knew how to do it, then why not tell us?

Not having paid listings at the top is just plain stupid and I can;t imagine a single directory owner wanting to abandon such a key requirement for generating revenue.

I think they should name and shame the (maybe one or two) culprits who apparently suggested this!

Isn't this why most forums have the ability to conduct a poll?

What I don't understand is this: I just made a couple of our listings 'premium' and they now appear at the top of their categories? :)

So, are we getting a bit confused? Is the sorting actually doing what it should be doing? o_O

I had based my previous comments on the demo (98london.com) on which the premium listings are not at the top.

Nitesh - this may or may not work.

I don't want to have to add more and more plug ins to get basic features....especially as when this theme was released it had the feature so many people here and on other threads are requesting.

That is one of the main reasons I bought it!!!!

Please reinstall this as an option. Those who do not want it simply do not tick the box and their sites will not be affected.

Simple. And no excuse for not doing it.

If this was in one of the original versions, can I have a copy of that theme version please?

I may be able to work out how to do it for myself if you have no intention of adding this original feature back in.

    Thank you.

I think is very important show the paid ads at the top too.
I think the support is not only for "CSS" or simply isues.

THIS is necesary for the template. I want the original version too to see it.

I can't find any examples of anyone in this forum requesting for this feature to be removed.

I see many forum members here and on other threads asking for this feature to be made available.

Support - please add the coding here so we can at least add this highly requested feature back into our own websites!

    Thank you

I agree this continues to be an issue. I, too, had searched the forum for the threads discussing the original change - though I don't doubt it was brought up to support, I have never found the threads. But I do know that for almost a year now, from many of us here on the forum you can find the threads requesting this feature AND the reasons why it is important. And no where in that time have I seen anyone else chime in and state they want it left "as-is", so that does leave some question as to where the majority lies.
There is no doubt that this single issue significantly lowers the value of featured listings to client.

Similarly, I also feel that the Feature Category is diminished in value because when we search for a category from the homepage search fields (which is obviously the primary search area on the site), the search results page does not display by Category, therefore the Feature Category slider section does not display either. This means that those clients that paid a premium for higher visibility will actually never have their featured placement displayed with a regular search -- it will only be displayed if a visitor uses the sidebar category search -- which is significantly less utilized than the main top search field and non-existent on a tablet or smartphone

So unfortunately given their limitations, neither is a compelling selling feature for our potential local client base

    'course, thats just imho ;)
