Hi, Would it be possible to offer access to business clients of a sample listing already created by us via admin in a newly built directory, the free business listings, there being 70 having been pre-populated by us to enable faster establishment of the new directory sales with business already seeing their own listing example. It means almost all will accept their free listing on seeing it on the directory, but need a way to give them easy access to the sample listing without having to delete and recreate. Would wish to give them access to their free sample listing created but not as main logins. Would it be possible to have another login that could be changed once they edit own listing. Thanks for a great theme!
Can't you change the author of the free listing (done in the admin area>edit listing at the bottom of the page) to the new account that would like to take it over? They can then upgrade the free listing to a paid listing themselves! Hope this helps - its a quick and simple way unless you have hundreds to process!! Roger
Thanks Rodger, I was intending to complete a directory of approx 70 businesses adding all free listings, in my case it would be a shopping mall, I would the intend to spend a few hours contacting all in the center offering the free listing, knowing that a percentage of those would them go on to upgrade to featured, and hopefully that would be the directory started or the ball rolling. I was thinking of being able to offer them an alternative login other than the admin used to create it to claim their own business listing and edit it as they wish. Another way would be to get them to contact me and I would personally change the login to their listing for them, but this is time consuming. There has to be a way to offer a new login via email verification or other. But that is for the coders department My reason for this method is to quickly get the directory started, some listings there gets more coming so to speak.
After you create the listings, to assign them to any particular user you need to Add him as a new user and make him the author of that particular listing. Alternatively, Businesses can also create their user account themselves from the frontend by clicking the Add new listing button For eg: http://www.98london.com/submit-listing-7/ Once their accounts are created, you can later assign them their listings by choosing their as the author of their listings.
Thank you Neeraj, I will go with requesting that the business owner creates their new user account and password, if all new accounts are held as pending when created I can then assign them the correct free listing as author. Am I correct that it is possible to hold all new user accounts as pending, until I can review they are going to use correct account. Again thank you!
