Delete 'Recent posts' & column on Right of regular page

Is it possible to remove the column on the right hand side of a regular page?
The section that says 'Search', 'Recent Posts', 'Recent Comments' etc.
It takes up a large portion of the page and leave little room for other things (eg a table).

I would like to inform you that all that sections use to appear by default over there..

So if you want to edit that section with your desired text, you just need to follow the screenshot given below.



If you are interested in displaying the pages as fullwidth (without any space for sidebar), then you can follow the screenshot given below.
