I want to generate a QR code for each business that lists in my directory for their listing page. I have this plug in which is awesome, and I wonder if you could automate QR generation within the GEO theme when someone completes their listing (perhaps with that plug in) and then have the QR code automatically sent to the email given on the form. There must be an easy way to do this. Also, what if I have a CSV upload? Would be great to auto-generate codes for a large database.
We will review that plugin and would see if it would be easily possible to integrate somekind of QR Code generation facility in the theme itself for individual listings. We receive lots of different kind of feature request for GeoCraft Theme and we will prioritize it all based on users feedback.
QR integration would be MASSIVELY powerful in marketing the theme itself and individual listings. Here's an example: Build a directory for a travel expo, business exhibition, food and wine show - anything like this. The directory itself coud have a QR code that all show visitors scan so they can have a mobile show guide loaded to their phone. Each business at the show could it's own QR code displayed on it's showstand so people can scan and go direct to the listings page, which as an added bonus could have 'show offers/discounts'... 'Scan this code for a 25% off show special' This principle could apply in thousands of different environment.... $$$$ all round!
Check out Beqrious.com Free QR codes available. Regarding the trade show marketing, Beqrious has analytic tracking program. For $5 book - everytime code is scanned or shared the mobile phone number is tracked. Vendors would be willing to pay for this for a year-out until next show and ability. On GeoCraft, it would be nice if a qr code could be generated for coupons, website etc. Maybe screen position could be available for those who have disabled dashboard completely. My clients are willingly to have another marketing piece to keep track off and do not want to log in everytime they get a notice. The new features of click to call, email etc makes this rather useless. In the US., Face Book, Yelp, Trip Advisor, Fours Squares, etc have tracking and ability to do reivews and ability to post on business webpage/facebook etc. AS SICJ GEOCRAFT DASHBOARD HAS BEEN ECLIPSED BY TRENDS -- replacing dashboard screen area with QR CODE / COUPONS would make this theme highly saleable. On my site, I have added a free wordpress plugin that integrates well for classified ads into the directory. The combination of all geograft business listings. classified ads and QR Generator -- a killer market.
gosmartmobi - thanks for your comments and resources I don't really understand what you have said here and would like to know more of what you mean. 1) about screen position & disabled dashboard 2) Geocraft dashboard eclipsed by trends Please give more info - thanks
Review Dashboard Section Unnessary. Google, Facebook, Yelp, TripAdvison, Facebook, Four Squares social network concepts encourage mobile phone users to post information/review when they visit businesses. People who regularly post reviews tend to be using their favorite app loaded on their cell phone. A review that goes to these large sites and made availalbe to a huge number people without going to a small geocraft site may have more meaning to those who regularly write reviews. Secondly, mobile phone searches go rapidly and, it is not clear how many people remember where they get information. Regarding the dashboard, while it seems a reasonable way to collect data and track ad investment, most small business owners/staff have alot to do. They want all information to go to a selected personal email without the obligation of logging into another site. The dashboard ends up as another chore. Where to place QR CODE The geocraft theme has a selected position for displaying the cell phone icon where customer can send the business an email. Now you have click to send email, which makes this feature unnecesary. In the place it is shown on the screen, geocraft could place a generated QR Code which either could be default the website address, coupon etc. Why this is important? The highest use of a cell phone is sharing information -- 80 percent of users. The ability to scan QR Code and store in a personal phone helps to bookmark the site for future reference and helps in sharing site with others. Mayble the easy thing would be for geocraft to capture category data fields and turn this into a QR code this would be equivalent of scanning a business card as a contact. Another idea is to create another field entry on the data input page. The customer then could simply type in text that could automatically become a qr code -- could be anything from URL to coupon for redeemption when visiting a business. I ;think these changes would help geocraft sales. The geocraft team certainly have done a great job in responding to forum members. Thank you for answering squeaky wheels.
thanks very much for the info and ideas gosmartmobi - I'm going to see how if there is a way to do this until INK see how powerful this could be and integrate it into future updates. I'll keep you posted with any solutions I find.
