   I'm using WP 4.2.2 and the Hartington theme. Is there a method to add a 403 redirect to a page that I can create, so visitors don't end up somewhere other than the website?

   You can go for Yoast SEO plugin. In that you will get a 301 redirect option using which you can redirect to other page.
