Beginning with WordPress

Hello, im new to WP and Im having a bit of trouble understanding somethings.

Currently I am in charge of designing the website for a Non-profit organisation and I bought Colorway because I saw the demo u guys have for NGOs.

I have set the Home page just fine and it looks just how i wanted. However, I am now faced with 1 problem. How i make the blog page, meaning how I make a page that has an article i wish to publish? If im correct i believe I have to use the Fullwidth page template.

Also, since im planning on inserting both text and images, and some other items like tables and a small google map frame im not sure where i code this....is it in the "Text" tab of the Add New Page section?

The features the theme provides are very useful, but im a lil bit overwhelmed with the dashboard of wordpress so im not sure where to start coding my new pages.

Any good pointers are greatly appreciated.
