Child theme with Cloriato

I purchased the "Cloriato" theme and wanted to make a child theme so I can save any customiasations to there without having to worry about any possible future updates removing all my edits.

However, whenever I try to create a child theme it seems like it's not possible. Is this theme not compatiable with child themes? Also, if I update it in the future will I lose all my customisations? I don't really want to change too much just content, etc.

Please download child theme attached and upload it. It will work fine with the theme.
