Hello. Using new 1.8.2 and great advice about child themes. This will save a lot of time in the future. I seem to be losing all menus and widgets on upgrade. In which files can I find these to save & upgrade into child theme for the future . Fortunately I copied all other changes I made onto notebook in case of upgrades which I can now put into child theme. This is a big help.
Hi, if you install the free plugin 'widget saver' it will save most of your widget settings and you can restore the settings when in admin from site on child theme. Sometimes some of the widgets will not all save but these can be found at the bottom of widget list to add again. The menu can usually be restored after a theme update by going to menu and accept and click for main menu at bottom left of page and save. Hope this helps. Tob
