    Hello all,

I've just updated to the latest version 2.0.5 in order to activate the claim listing feature.

However when trying it out I find that if I try to claim a free listing I can only claim it AND convert it to a paid listing.

The sales page seems to indicate that all listings can be claimed by a registered user and I assumed that the listing would keep its status i.e free, paid, recurring etc A user would like to claim a free listing and update it with their latest details without having to pay for it possibly.

Have I missed a setting somewhere.

By the way, its good that Inkthemes have listened to their user base and incorporated this badly needed feature.

    Hi Roger,
I'm using the latest version as well and have setup some free listings and as long as I have the free plan enabled (the first one) it allows me to claim that free listing and keep it a free listing by selecting the free (first) plan.

Is this option not available to you as a non-loggedin new user?

Thanks, Yes the free listing is available if I create a new listing but its not shown if I try to claim a listing when logging in a a new user. Most strange.

    Hi Roger,

For your information, the claim listing feature would be there for free listings, admin can apply this feature on the free listings by editing that listing from Dashboard.

    See the screenshot: http://screenpresso.com/=bcbrd

And when a registered user will claim the listing then, he would have to pay the amount and upgrade.

    Thanks & Regards!

    Hi Tripros,

The Claiming listing feature would work for the registered users only.

    Thanks & Regards!

OK - I'll try to make this as clear as possible as you seem to have misunderstood my problem.

I usually create listings as an admin and I create them in the Geocraft dashboard not in the Wordpress IDE.

However for this I have created two listings, one from each area and made sure that each one is claimable.

I have a separate browser and login as a normal user and go through the process of claiming both listings. In each case the free listing option is not available to choose, only the two paid listings. I have also tried this in Safari, Firefox, Opera and Chrome. I have cleared the cache on the website and on the browsers all to no avail.

I've attached a screen shot of what I see and yes the free listing is 'Active' as it appears when creating a listing.

So support please clarify the position on this as Tripos seems to be able to claim and keep free listings. Is this how it should be?

If needed I'll do a screen video to demonstrate what happens.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the explanation...

As I guess from your above words that you want to show free listing package as well when a user go through the process of claiming the listing..

    Is that something you want...?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks & Regards!

    Thanks Priyanka,

I asked this question as some of your latest advertising for Geocraft theme indicates that this is a feature of the theme. Also I see no reason why not as its available if a user creates a listing and they may wish to keep it as a free listing if they claim it. Its up to me to persuade them to upgrade to a paid listing. It surely cannot be difficult to offer this as an option to be turned on or off?

A previous forum user 'Tripros' also seemed to indicate that the claim listing works by offering the free listing on his site.

So yes Priyanka I would like to see the free listing offered when a user claims a listing! So I assume that it does not at this moment do that by default?

    I am following this thread.

Are you saying that when an existing Free listing user is asked to claim their listing once more, they are not given the option to remain as Free listing?

Correct, at least thats what happens to me when I log-in as a normal user and try to claim a listing.

Try it on my web site and see for yourself.

    Is this what everyone wants?

If you want to try it out go to: http://www.inboston.co.uk/listing/womens-incontinence-problems/ and claim the listing. You will need to make up an account of course.

Its all a work in progress until I can get these last issues sorted out and then I'll launch it by adding many free listings using my own photography to start it off!

I may have misread your response zoro909, If a new account user wishes to claim an existing free listing which I as an administrator have prepared ready, when claiming it they are only offered two paid options and are not able to claim a free listing and keep it as a free listing. Does that make sense?

Try it for yourself and see what I mean!

To be honest Priyanka this needs to be a more robust theme fix as I have other directory sites I'm about to launch. Thank you for the offer I'll forward the details to you shortly.

I am following this thread too.

I have same problem and would like to know how its solved. Can this cannot be incorporated in the backend as an option to turn it off/on.

    Priyanka,

No one has mentioned turning the free listing on or off. It simply does not appear in the claim listing area when it does appear for instance when creating a new listing. It should be available for a user to claim a free listing and KEEP it as a free listing.

I am now repeating my comment from earlier in this thread. I hope that these fixes will appear in the latest version about to be released!!!!

I agree with Rogerb. I want my clients to be able to claim their listing without forcing them to upgrade to a paid listing.

Please add "Free Listing" to the list of choices when a business claims their listing. This is a very important to me.

    Thank you.

    Priyanka,

Just so we're clear, here is an image showing the "Select Package" screen when a user claims their listing. It does not have an option to leave it as a Free Listing.

We do not want to make the customer upgrade to a paid listing. They should be able to claim a listing and leave it "free".

    Thank you. geocraft-claim-listing.png
