Classifieds ads are not shown on parent categories

    Hi there,

    Issue: Classifieds ads are not shown on parent categories.

    Suppose there are parent categories and children categories. If you post an ad and the user selects the parent category, the ad does show up on the main page.

    Steps to reproduce issue:

    1. Create a classified category called "Electronics". Then create another categories called "ipad" where "Electronics" is the parent category of "ipad".
    2. Create a new classified ad and select "Electronics" as the classified category for the ad. Publish the ad.

    3. Go to the classified page where site visitors can browse through the categories. The parent category "Electronics" category to expand the sub-categories. You'll see "ipad" category in the expanded list with (0) next to it. You will not see the ad.

    Ideally, users shouldn't post their ad under electronics. The should post it under the leaf/child category which is shown in the expand/collapse list. However, we can't control how visitors will post their ad.

    Suggested solution:
    1. I suggest parent categories should be blocked from being selected for an ad. Or
    2. If a parent category is selected, make it mandatory for the user to select a leaf/child category under the selected parent. This way, the ad will appear under that child category.

    Please note, this is a very important change. I consider this as a defect that needs to be fixed. It is very misleading to the user when they post an ad to fall into this trap and there is no easy way to find this out and remedy the issue on a daily basis. Kindly, consider this a priority work item. Also, kindly, is there a way I can be notified when this functionality is available?
