Confusion About "Number Of Post In Home Page"

On http://www.DOMAINHERE/wp-admin/themes.php?page=optionsframework
you can set the
Number Of Post In Home Page

but I just realized that this is not "all numbers shown", but it is
actually the regular posts being shown + the "sticky" posts.

That is utterly confusing.

It actually means if I put 6 posts to be shown,
and want 2 sticky posts, that it will show 8 posts.

Right now I know how to work around it, but it would make
more sense to me to have a complete number of posts that
would include the sticky posts, otherwise I have to recalculate
the posts being shown all the time if I have some seasonal
stick posts.

Is there a way to change this behavior via an php hack?
