Hi, I'm new to WordPress and to the Blackbird theme. I have several questions. My questions are: 1) How do I create a header image for my website pages, can this be a Slider? I basically want a Slider at the top of each section of my website as a highlight and prior to the reader getting to my general introduction text. 2) How do I format text in my pages, do I just push Enter or Ctl Enter and if I want to add text after I have inserted an image how do I get to a fresh line under the image to start typing in more text? 3) Can I add more content to my Home Page - such as a "Call to Action" panel etc.? 4) I can't get the "Tap to Call" icon to appear on my Pro version o Blackbird, it used to appear on the free version that I used initially? 5) Is there a way to change the Theme colours globally to a custom colour that I have for my businesses logo? 6) How do I use Stylesheets to better and more professionally lay-out my website pages? 7) My website is http://www.earthawareproducts.com.au
1). Unfortunately this is not possible to do with our theme unless you custom code something up, sorry. Or you can search plugins for this issue like WP Slider Plugin (http://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-slider-ssp/installation/) and paste its short code in the header.php file present in your theme directory. 2). Go to the Pages > Add New and upload your images by clicking on media button and then select the left alignment of the image and then you can write your text in the text editor of page. 3). Could you please explain your third issue more clearly with the help of screenshot images. 4). It is not possible to do that with the lite theme because it requires lot of customization. This feature is only available in the blackbird pro theme for the mobile view. 5). Go to the orange.css file (theme directory\css\color\orange.css) present in your theme directory and you can customize the color and images. See image for reference, 6). Do not customize the stylesheet from the style.css. Go to the Appearance > Theme Options > Styling Options and put your edited css in the Custom CSS. This will solve your issue.
Piyush, Thanks for your reply. Further to your replies on my points I respond as follows: 1) The Blackbird Theme summary on Wordpress.org states the following: The BlackBird Theme for WordPress is simple and beautiful with lots of customization options that can tweaked by Theme Options Panel like logos, intro texts and background. BlackBird Theme supports six widgetized areas (two in the sidebar, four in the footer) and featured images (thumbnails for gallery posts and custom header images for posts and pages). It includes stylesheets for print and the admin Visual Editor, special styles for posts in the “Fullwidth” and “Gallery” categories, and has an optional one-column page template that removes the sidebar. How do I create a Custom Header Images for each of Posts and Pages? And I can only see three widgetized areas in the Footer, yet the above states four - where is the other one? 2) What I meant was that if you have an image underneath a paragraph of text how do you get below the image to type in more text? Is it a matter of deleting the image, typing in all of the text and inserting the image at a position on a paragraph where I want the image positioned? Do I push "Enter" or "Ctl Enter" to create a break between paragraphs of text? 3) I'd like to have a Text Box or a Widget on my Home Page where I could make an announcement of get people to download one of our Whitepapers etc. in return for giving us their name and email address etc. In other words free text on the Home Page. 4) I have the Pro edition the Tap to Call feature doesn't work, yet it worked on the free edition that I was using previously. 5) This looks very complicated for someone who is new to CSS. Isn't there an easier way. Why couldn't there just be a Custom CSS code as an option for the Style colours? 6) I guess what I'm asking here is for some instructions on how to use Stylesheets to make styles for pages? 7)Can I change the Fonts for the whole site globally - something from Google Fonts etc.? I tried this and pasted in the shortcode into the Custom CSS box, but the Themes fonts seem to be still over-riding this? An ideas? Regards davideld
