Error in portfolio code

Hallo,

I am trying to build a site on a local server but cannot connect - just get a blank screen or 404 message. The php. error log says this: PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/wordpresstest/wp-content/themes/photomakertheme/portfolio.php on line 42

Line 42 in the portfolio.php says this: terms = get_the_terms($post->ID, 'filter');

Or this (not sure if blank lines count as lines): foreach ($terms as $term) {

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It was all working ok last time I logged on. Thanks.
