Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble with spam registration and understand there has been some success with the newer 1.8.2 version, but unfortunately I'm having a lot of difficulty updating. The new version is giving me a white screen. I tried renaming both WP and PHP Admin Files but I and my hosting techs couldn't make it work. They think it could be a scripting issue or an incompatible plugin. I ended up losing my footer widget info and category post count settings trying to get the old version restored. Is this suppose to be a difficult process? Please provide some clear steps to upgrade to 1.8.2.
My hosting folks found that the Post Types Order plugin was wreaking havoc on the install. Also, you will need to increase your upload and php limits. However, v 1.8.2 of the new theme had some issues last week that made me pull out what little hair I had left. Over the weekend, Inkthemes support sent me a new zip file with a modified 1.8.2 theme, and it works fine now. You may want to ask them for that modified theme.
Thanks ehause, I am using the Post Type Order plugin so I bet that is the issue I'm having. I'll request the modified version then deactivate the PTO plugin before installing the modified 1.8.2 theme. Do you know if you can re-activate the PTO plugin after the install?
