How do I change the title for the home page

For SEO purposes, I see that the home page of my site defaults to the actual web address and then some keywords - is there a way I can dictate the exact title (that shows up in google results, etc.). I don't want the web address on there first, just the words about the site.

Hello,

If you are talking about site title. You can change it from
Dashboard > General > site title
And remove web address from there and add any text there.
And
For SEO purpose you can use "All in one seo plugin".
It will provide you separate options for adding keywords and description.
