How do I make the website load with the menu hidden?

Hi there, I would like to make the left menu be hidden on page load and open on click for all screen sizes. Could you advise what code I'll need to add/change in a child theme?

Thanks for your reply. I've only just started working on the site build. The dev site url is http://dirtyworks.collectivedesign.co/ and I have attached the home page design (ignore the pale grey margins). It should work really well as a child theme of Blackwell as long as the menu doesn't show on page load on a desktop, as we want a full screen to start with. I thought I'd get a step ahead and ask straight out how to do this.
