How do I remove the check box / tick box from a parent (top) category / categories? So for example, I have "locations" and "specialities" with child categories listed off of these, but people don't need to be selecting the top categories of "locations" and "specialities", just from the selection list within them Thank you!
Hello, Unfortunately there isn't a way to do that with our theme unless you custom code something up. Sorry.
Really? But if you are offering parent and child categories, don't you think this looks misleading and messy? (why would you need to select the head category check box when you are selecting the exact sub-category that applies to the listing). This means that those filling out a new listing could be mislead into making four selections instead of the two required? I think you should supply a fix for this, as it is an error - top categories are a path to the correct selection, not the selection? ALSO, I tried putting Location-State-City but the third sub categories don't appear for selection by listers - given that the theme search isn't fullproof and doesn't work comprehensively enough for location, how can people identify where they are adequately for search?
Hello, For example if we take a parent category vehicle which contain 2 subcategory car and bike. And while creating listing if you select only car. Then you will get no result while searching vehicle. Listing will be found only when you search for car. That's why we have provided both options. It is over to listing owner to select parent and child cat both or any one of them. For third sub category Download file attached and replace it with your current "listing_submit_form.php". geocrafttheme\library\front_end\listing_submit_form.php
But in this case, the upper categories are location and speciality which would not be searched for, so the tick boxes are a complication and confusion. Thanks for the replacement file to get the third sub category to show - I've done that now, thanks. I wish there were a way to have more than one category selection for new listers to select from, rather than one category? I've had to make the upper categories both location and speciality, and the new lister must scroll down after selecting their location via location-state-town to get to the second category...
