How do people creating an account upload avatars for their profiles?

Can his be done ? Or is there a plugin I need for either their own image ?

Or do they use a standard image ?

Cannot see anyway in their edit profile of adding a picture, please advise?

Also just tried to add some details to a sample account and it doesn't save changes (goes to 404 cannot find page instead). Can you please help fix this?
