How Specify Category for Home Page Blog

    Is is possible to specify a specific category to appear on the home page?

    Also

    Is is possible to omit a specific category from appearing on the home page blog?

    It won't let me save the new code.
    I am the only editor on the site, so why cant i have permission to update the front-page.php file?

    Summary of Roles

    Super Admin – somebody with access to the site network administration features and all other features. See the Create a Network article.
    Administrator – somebody who has access to all the administration features within a single site.
    Editor – somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users.
    Author – somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.
    Contributor – somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
    Subscriber – somebody who can only manage their profile.

    I am the site administrator.
    How can I gain permission to edit the code and then save it in this file "front-page.php"
    Right now, i cannot save any edits.
    as you have advised in your prior response.
