If you do a mass upload of all your business listings or even if you just add a listing for another business under admin, they are all listed under you as the author. Big problem when the businesses want to edit their own listings, there is no easy way to change the author (great idea for an update on next version for admin!).I found out how to do it!!!Export the CSV file :Geocraft Settings - Export to CSVNow peek in your database file & see what the correct new user author ID is for the listing & change it in the CSV file.Geocraft Settings - Upload Your CSVDone!!! Now when that user goes to their dashboard it won't be empty any more!!!OOPS!!!!! tested this but when I did the upload, it didn't work?? Several warning messages flashed really fast but then it said uploaded successfully - but no changes were made? Is the upload function not working?? Can I manually upload this to where??
What kind of warning messages you got ? I tried this stuff myself to upload the listing by different users, below are the steps I took which worked fine for me. 1. First of all, I created the user from the wordpress dashboard and noted their user id. 2. Then in the csv file, I entered the userid of the user in every listing entry. 3. I did the upload of the csv from dashboard. 4. All the listings are inserted by respective listing owner. The way the csv works is it makes the listing entry in the database along with the userid of the listing. PS: A. The userid you are entering in the CSV should be created already from dashboard. B. You can create a new listing entry however you can't edit or update already created listings.
hi guys, Im planning to upload lots of listings for free, (as admin) then market to those businesses to log in and update their own info - and from there try to get them to upgrade to a paid listing. If I have already created the business listing under "admin" how can I grant access to these listings to the relevant individual customers? Have you any suggestions on how I could do this? SO how can I upload mass businesses then grant accesses to each business when users sign up? Thanks Regards
Paul, see above. You have to go into the database & change the user ID to match the business. Mine that I added in mass were all listed as user id#1 (me). I had to go into the database & see the user ID for each business (as they signed up for a free account) and change the user ID to their number. EX: they all said #1 (me)...I found the wp_user database & see the number for the correct business. Change it in the wp_posts to that new number & it will show up on their page when they open their dashboard now.
NEERAJ - HELP !!! 1) I downloaded the csv file from the dashboard (export), noting the user ID I wanted to change. (it was an acct already created) 2) Then in the csv file, I changed the post_author to the correct number. 3) I did the upload of the csv from dashboard 4) nothing changed? I signed in as the new user I created, opened the dashboard & it shows nothing, no ad there? What am I doing different than you? Question: PS. B) Are you saying that I can't edit or change the user ID# in the csv files? I don't understand, In #2 didn't you change the ID of all the ads?
thanka joshua - that explains it well. It seems your having trouble with the CSV import / export issues which directly affect this - be interesting to see supports response
Anyone else try this & have trouble?? or is the export/import working for you?? I made the changes & not working for me
B) I am saying that if you had already imported the listing by admin's userid, you can't edit that listing's owner by importing the same listing again with different user id through the CSV file. The process I explained in my previous thread works when you try to import the listing for the first time. When you try to import the listing for the first time through CSV, make sure you enter the relevant user's id in the csv file to which you want to assign the listing during the first import itself. The users should be created first from the admin dashboard. If you are following the process above, do check from the admin's dashboard whether the listing is assigned to the appropriate user or not. If not, I need to see your website where you are getting the issue.
