How to change the text categories into images categories in Classicraft theme

Hello

1st: in my home page i want to put image categories instead of text categories.
(i have tried Categories image plugin but it didn't work out)

2nd:i want also to add a left bar to put my categories and when you point on one of them it shows you the subcategories.

Hi again

One more question if in the classifieds page, the user would have to click on the + sign to expand the categories. How can for this page to have all the categories expanded by default?
