I like your theme, but have problems with uploaded images since I first purchased your theme. I have searched your form and also posted questions about how images should be sized to look right. I am wondering how I can replace your image tool used with geocraft to use a new image tool that will do a better job of automatically sizing images for customers when they upload? Most customers don't know how to resize an image and won't bother if they do know how to resize an image.

I would like to replace your image upload tool with one that does a better job of auto sizing a customer's uploaded image. You can view my site and take a look at how the images are sized incorrectly to see what I mean: http://marketeerclassifieds.com/

Please send me instructions as to how I can replace your image tool with one that handles the sizing of uploaded images for my customers?

    Thanks,

    Susan

    Hello Susan,

The widths for the image on the main listing, the 'preview' listing image and the featured slider images all have different ratios...so the edges of some images are cut off.
To adjust any single image (for eg. 600 x 400)px in different frames
    140 x 195 px,
    128 x 108 px,
    450 x 270 px

Cropping is required to show image in correct dimension. Which is resulting corner cut off.

To stop cut off. You need to remove cropping code from front and loop page.
Download file attached and replace it with your "front-page.php, ", "loop.php"

    Thanks & Regards

Nitesh, Regarding image stretching in Geocraft: Your comments above still to do resolve the problem that should easily be resolved by some new code from you. Bottom line is when you upload an image it looks fine (even if it is cropped a bit) on the home page. But when you click on the listing and view it in the listing detail -- it is stretched if it does not meet the 5 to 3 dimension ratio. That is putting an undue burden on the client trying to create a listing. Most of them simply grab images and upload them. I know this can be resolved by simply applying the same code parameters to the images on the listing detail as are the case on the homepage listing. Could you please give us some code to do so? And since most people using Geocraft are not CSS experts, could you please tell them exactly where to load the solution code you create. I absolutely love Geocraft. But there are some problems like this that give the impression of not a fully professional directory site. And when you are asking money from people to list their business, we cannot present them with this kind of image quality problem. This is a serious issue and we would all appreciate a serious solution. Images are the cornerstone of a directory and they should not stretch or squeeze just because the business uploading them is not an expert in digital imagery. Most businesses haven't got a clue how to resize pixel dimensions etc. Your prompt attention to this very important problem would be greatly appreciated, and truly would then reflect the quality I see elsewhere in the Geocraft theme. Have a nice day.
    Sincerely,
    Jeff

I'm wondering if this issue has ever been resolved somehow. I just installed the Geocraft v2 theme and noticed the same problem of main business page image stretching. I'd like to know if there is a fix for this before i go too far with building this website.

    Thanks.

    Steve

the website is http://myskatingcoach.com (all business listing images are distorted regardless if created backend or frontend but an example is this one- http://myskatingcoach.com/listing/leslie-blais-mortgage-agent/ )

As i said, i'm just testing out the theme to make sure i can get past the image problem before i go any further with it. What i'm looking for is the ability for end users (businesses) to create their own listings and upload their own photos without having to play around with image resizing etc. - and i certainly don't want to have to go in myself and "fix" each businesses photos either.

I noticed on another thread there are a bunch of links to websites that were created with GeoCraft (such as http://www.australianweddingcelebrants.com.au/listing/nicole-blyth/ ). They all seem to have smaller images on the main listing pages and the business info text are all spaced much tighter than the version 2 that i'm testing. Are they still running an older version? Is there any way to make the current version look like that one?

    Thanks for your help

    - Steve

    Hello,
    Image are stretching only because of small size of image. If you upload a large size image it works perfectly. For better result upload image having nearby width: 650px;
    height: 420px; approx.
    Thanks & Regards

Thanks for the info - yes it did work better once i used larger images - although often (especially with logos) the images are either very wide and not tall or they are very boxy which will require some photo editing on the part of the end user prior to uploading.

It would be great if i could add some text underneath each of the image upload boxes to let the user know that the optimum image size is 650 x 420 jpeg. Is there any way to add this text?

    Thanks,

    Steve
