    Dear Sirs,

I hope you can help. My understanding of your theme (Geocraft 1.7.1) is that the lead capture section only works for Pro users. This means free users have the contact form on the right hand side and it encourages the user to enter their details, however, the data will not go anywhere.

I like your thinking, force people to pay for the pro package.

However, one slight issue is that the consumer will be frustrated by the directory. They think the directory is not sending the enquiry to the listed company so stop using the directory.

My preference would be that the contact / enquiry form only appears for pro companies and does not appear for free listed companies. This way the user searching the website will not be frustrated when they do not receive a call.

Is this possible to only show the enquiry form on the business listing when it is a pro user? So, free listings would not show the enquiry form. Ideally a pro user could decide to turn the enquiry form on/off when they are registering their business.

Lead capture form works same for both free and pro listings. The only difference is, for free listings, leads can't be saved in free listing owner dashboard.
Only site admin can access those leads. Free listing owner only receive mail regarding leads.
The lead capture form in free listing is "on" so that the admin can access all leads. If a Listing Owner has opted for free listing then he will not be able to see the leads however the admin can access the leads. If a listing owner wants to access the data then he has to upgrade his listing i.e. from free to pro listing.

    Hi Nitesh

Thank you for your detailed response.

Admin accessing the leads is a problem - it gives the website owner more work! The ideal scenario is that the lead form doesn't exist for free users, only pro users would have the contact form.

A directory which offers a free contact form, but doesn't submit the data is a poor directory. It's misleading the customer by telling them it will do something which it won't. I understand why you did it.... more pro users Yay! But, the way it's built it confusing so I've had to turn the contact form off, which is a shame.

Yes it would be better if there was an option to turn off the contact form for free users. Could it be considered for future updates ?

The reason we allow the leads data of the free listing to be stored in the admin dashboard is because the site admin can email the free listing owner anytime and upsell the leads data to the free listing owner as required.

Also, if the free listing business owner comes to know that there are existing leads with the site admin, the free listed business would be more interested in upgrading.

    Hi Nitesh

I understand completely why you're doing it and it's a great idea. What if the site owner refuses to pay for a lead? Ultimately the user / client / customer will blame the website for not passing the information on and find the website to be unreliable. They won't blame the listed company because it's not their website. Do you see what I mean?

I like the theme and knew it did this before i purchased it so it's fine. I think it would just work better if the lead capture could be on sometimes (pro clients) and off others.

    Thanks

This is a very good point - thank you for raising it northstar.

I agree - and so do others.

It makes more work for admin.

When my directory has 5000 entries I do not want to have to email hundreds or thousands of listings to tell them they have leads and should upgrade.

This feature, set as it is, will lose us business. Please give option to remove form on free listings

Agreed - this is not serving the directory user, the business or the directory owner.

Lead capture needs to be removed from free listings.

Yes - again, this reflects badly on the directory and also on the business, because the user will not be contacted by any business ith a free listing - and they will not know why!

The more I think about it, the more it is a problem.

Support, please find a solution to this so that
    - users are not mislead into thinking they will be contacted
    - businesses listing in the directory maintain good reutation becuase they can follow up enquiries (or not have enquiries in the first place if listed free)
    - directories do not get a bad reputation because users cannot contact business through the supplied contact form!
    - admin is not given more work to a) check if a listings has enquiries b) have to upsell them c) lose reputation, users and clients if a free listing business will not upgrade!

I totally understand your original thinking on this support, but it doesn't work in practice.

This needs a total rethink in consideration of the above points.
