I am feeling that many people lose changes when theme updates occur, because it it not clear how a parent/child theme configuration should be properly setup. Specific clear step by step instructions with explanations on how to create child themes from InkThemes themes would be helpful.
Hello, If you will reinstall the theme with the same way as mention below, you will not lose any of your Theme Option setting. Steps are as follow: Download the GeoCraft theme by logging in your members account: http://inkthemes.com/members/member Next, you have to extract the zip file and rename that folder geocrafttheme like geocrafttheme_new, Again, you would need to create a zip file of that renamed folder (say: geocrafttheme_new.zip), Now, upload the theme in your WordPress from Dashboard->Appearance->Themes->Add New, Then, activate your theme, This way you can install and activate your updated version in your site, keeping the copy of your older version in your WordPress But I would like to inform that you will lose your source code customization whatever you have done in the theme while upgrading the theme. Yes, this works. Thanks. I am still a novice to wordpress and I realize now that when additional plugins are installed it messes up the code of the GeoCraft Theme so I have learned my lesson.
