I am currently doing what you said but could a past plugin that I had installed called W3 optimisation of been the reason behind it because on minify settings, it made the menus appear as bullet points but I have that plugin deleted now?

Hello, WD Twitter Feed plugin is conflicting with theme. I have deactivated it and now the issue has been resolved. You can search alternate plugin for this at WordPress.org site, which is compatible with the theme.
