Just checked my sites on ipad and Geocraft and Local business themes do not support zoom.
    How do we enable this?
    Thanks

    Hello,

To get rid from zoom in/out option responsive design is generated. In which all images and content are easily visible.
So in responsive design zoom in/out option is not required and also not possible.

I have several sites using various Inktheme themes... I think this is a result of the responsive nature. On all my responisive sites there is no zoom support. On the couple of non-responsive ones zoom works ok.

Theoretically there shouldn't be a need to zoom in on a responsive site.

    Hmm,
The reason I spotted this is that with my old eyes I was not able to focus correctly on the category side bars and therefore was not able to use my website on an ipad. :(

This will be a showstopper for quite a few people I would imagine.

However this issue is only a problem for iOS safari users as pinch to zoom and tap to zoom works perfectly well with Android and Chrome.
So the question is: How come it works with Chrome and not Safari? And does Chrome for iOS have pinch to zoom enabled?

I've tried on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 & Samsung S3 mini both running Jelly Bean (stock browser, firefox and chrome) there is no zoom on my GeoCraft responsive site and the same goes for Safari and Chrome on my Ipad2 and Ipod 5th Gen

    This crazy LOL.
HTC one X and Nexus 4 both have pinch to zoom with Geocraft and Local business themes!
I'm not going to lose any sleep over it but it is weird

Its an odd one, probably going to boil down to individual device behaviour and isn't something you can account for with any certainty... with the amount of devices avaiable its harder than ever to one site to fit all!

Nitesh, don't worry this is a great and much needed feature!
I've tried a couple of CyberChimps themes and they zoom also.

    HTC one X

    Heres my two cents:

If you do not want a responsive theme, just remove some of the conditional styling to make it non-responsive. This way you can pinch and zoom to your heart contents.

Responsive templates are made so that people do not need to pinch and zoom and just scroll.

    All the best

    Hi kentoliver,

I very happy with the way responsive themes scale for smaller devices and I'm not suggesting that anything in this theme should be changed to accommodate zoom.

I now get that responsive themes are designed so that pinch to zoom is not needed. TBH, because the two devices I own work perfectly with pinch to zoom I had no idea that they were not supposed to! Until I tried the ipad that is...

I wonder how many other devices work well with zoom?

However, for anyone with 50 year old eyes or a very small screened devices, being able to view a responsive website with zoom is a killer feature.

I guess in this respect I am lucky to own such devices that can do this. BTW both devices are running original manufacturer's software. No custom ROMS!

yeah its defiantly weird how the different devices allow pinch and zoom, and some do not. however even responsive styling for all devices is hard these days because of the broad range of devices and their set size widths, in both vertical and landscape view.

another suggestion may to be bump up the text size, use nice contrast with colors, and perhaps use bolded, and non bolded weights to make things stand out.

    all the best,
    -kent
