I am creating a directory for my local town and I have not officially made the site publicly known. I have 3 related questions. To add credibility to the website, is it a good idea or bad idea to pre-populate a large number of businesses? My thought is that it would show social proof that people were already using the website. If I do this, can the business owner come and claim the listing, make edits and upgrade in order to set up the payment? If it is a good idea, is it possible to create a .csv file that will be easily imported into GeoCraft? Thank you
Hi Cayenne! I think pre-populating is the only way to go. Otherwise, people won't find your website credible enough in order to invest in adversting. I have been working with Geocraft for almost a year and it has been a continuous process of populating and tweaking the website so that it becomes appealing for paying costumers. In what concerns the technical issues, I'll leave it to InkThemes support. I am also interested in obtaining answers to your questions. Good luck! Henrique
Hi guys I just purchased the GeoCraft theme unaware that the software does not include a claim your own listing button. My opinion regarding this matter is, if you send a client to a website that you claim to be a directory and it doesn't already list their business name, phone number, and address free of charge indefinitely. They will not see the website as a directory but rather a platform for advertizing. I do hope that I can find a way to have business claim their basic listing for free and then decide if they want to purchase premium options as it suits their needs. Directories are created to help people find what they need if you leave out any option that the user could use you are doing them a disservice. p.s. Having said that please understand I still think this is an above average software package and I will continue to work with it. Respectfully; bcky12
I agree, and I hope that this will be a change in the theme, coming soon! Thanks, have a nice day! Jo.
