During setup and testing, we created several cities as Listings Tags. However, we actually want these to be Categories instead so that when there is a search on these city terms, the Category listings page will display with the featured slider (which it is not doing if we just use city Tags). So, we deleted all our city Tags from the Listing Tags Dashboard (betw 5-10 total) and re-created them as Listing Categories, plus a couple additional cities, then proceeded to add them to several existing business listings. The problem we noticed is that any city Categories we created which had previously been a Tag now results in a "No Listings Found" when searched. Any brand new city we added as a Category displays search results found correctly. I'm assuming there is code from the original Tag in the back end database somewhere and it is taking precedent somehow and not recognizing that the orig. city name tags should now be recognized as Categories. Since the WP Geo Dashboard indicates all the Listing Tags were deleted and the new Listing Categories are indeed in the list, How do we rectify this issue to get the search to recognize these 'repurposed' city Categories? A little perplexed on how to fix and appreciate your recommendation - thanks! (will send the url/login to support email)
Hello, I have followed same process at my side but not found this issue. So please send your detail. I will check and try to resolve it.
Hmmm... ok, thanks - PM Email sent to support yesterday and I just resent it again now. It contains examples, screenshots along with the login info. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the follow up email - I replied via email but will post here also. Would you please share the steps how you solved that problem because it is the same problem I have on another site and will need to fix it there as well. I can kinda see this issue happening inadvertently from time to time (switching the tag/category names or having a duplicate), so how is the search problem to be avoided in such a situation? Is it something in the Database Tables that need to be corrected? It appears to only happen with a Term that is used more than once, ie; as a Tag and then also as a Category, where the system assigns a #2 to the slug when the second item is created. (sorry I'm not sure of the proper terminology, this just seems to be what I am seeing in my testing) The search problem "not found" only happens to the Categories which have a 2 in the slug. (Ex. new-york vs new-york-2 ) Thank you, CJ
Hello, You have identified problem correctly. Slug is the problem. So just go to the particular category and remove it's slug and update it. It will work.
