Ok, I have a lot of questions about this. I have been searching through the threads but don't see my answers. I thought the main difference between the One-Time package and the Recurring package was to give the clients an option to pay a one-time payment for a longer period of time, maybe with a discount. That's what I wanted to do. I wanted to setup Recurring to be $17 a month for Pro listing. I'm confused about the settings though. If I want this to be $17 for the first payment and every month after that without expiring unless they cancel, then what do I put in the settings exactly? Then for the One-Time package I wanted to make that $170 for 1 Year. Hence, a 20% discount for paying for a year in advance. But when I do that I see 2 problems. The Post Your Listing button shows $170 instead of $17 The default content for the description says when that package expires, they can reactivate "for no additional charge." What does that mean? That if they pay the one time payment they never have to pay again to get the Pro listing? Can someone explain to me how I can make this work the way I want it to? Or am I forced to setup the One-Time payment package to be $17 for 1 Month just in case some client doesn't want to commit to a monthly subscription for $17 that they could always cancel anyway? And related to this, I saw posted in another thread where someone said if a client purchases the Pro Recurring package and they upgrade to a Featured listing then the client is charged the extra amount every month. I would think that would be a default of 1 Month. If not then I have 2 questions about how this would work. What if a client gets a Pro listing, Recurring. Then 2 months later they decide they want to be Featured on the Home page? Do they see the Featured upgrade option when they are logged in? And after they buy that Featured listing is it a separate subscription payment? For how long? What if a client gets a Pro listing, Recurring and at the time of that purchase they also add the Home Page Featured listing upgrade? Then 2 months later they want to cancel the Featured listing but keep the Pro listing? How would they do that? Seems kind of cumbersome doesn't it?
1. The Post your listing button text can be customized according to your requirements from the themes options panel. See Image: http://screencast.com/t/lzpRudmji 2. For One Time Payments you can't make them to pay you again for the same listing. You can setup the Listing Active Period for the listing from the Options Panel, this would be the time for which the listing would remain active after which it would be moved to drafts automatically. You can customize the description text of the theme according to your requirements, if you want you can remove the reactivate your listing text from the description. See Image: http://screencast.com/t/Ihow4m6pc You can set the One Time Payment charge to $170 from the GeoCraft Theme Options under For Recurring Payment, set the price to $17 for lifetime and the listing owner would be charged indefinitely until he cancels. --------------------------- 1. The feature to Homepage Upgrade Option after the first time payment is done is not possible to do right now. 2. Paypal doesn't allows to modify the subscriptions once created, if the user wants to do that the listing would be required to be resubmitted and a new subscription needs to be setup again.
Nitesh, please bear with me here. I'm trying to make sure I understand exactly how this works. You have cleared up some of this for me and I appreciate that. So, to clarify... What you are saying is it IS possible for me to use the One Time Payment package the way I intended? To offer a discount for an Annual payment by charging $170 for 1 Year. Then I just modify the Post Button text so it shows the regular monthly cost ($17). And for the Featured Listing options (Home page and Category pages), are you saying that a business owner MUST select one or both Featured options at the time they Add their Pro Listing or they will not have a chance to do that again later? That doesn't make much sense to me. Any business owner should be able to upgrade to a Pro Listing at any time. Also, any business owner with a Pro Listing should be able to pay for a Featured listing at any time. I also think they should be able to select whether they want that Featured listing to be for 1 Month only or setup as a monthly subscription until canceled. Example 1: A new client adds their listing. They choose the Premium Listing (that's what I label it). Then they choose the Category Featured upgrade. Their subscription is setup for the total amount, recurring monthly. Example 2: A new client adds their listing. They choose the Premium Listing but decide at this time not to get a Featured upgrade. Their subscription payment is setup for $17 a month, recurring. Then 2 months later they decide they want to try the Home Page Featured option. They login and select that option and whether they want it to be month to month until canceled or just for one month. Either way it is a separate PayPal payment, one time or a new recurring subscription is created. The only problem in doing it this way would be if they cancel their Premium Listing subscription and have an active (separate) Featured upgrade subscription. A simple solution for that would be to put a notification on our Dashboard so we (the admin) can go cancel their Featured Listing subscription. Bottom line, if business owners cannot pay for a Featured Listing after they have upgraded to a Pro listing that leaves a lot of money on the table that could be long term recurring revenues.
Quick update... I went back and setup the One-Time Package like I had it before. Charging $170 for 1 Year. Then changed the Post Button to show the $17 monthly charge. It won't work this way! Because if someone chooses that option and then selects Homepage or Category Featured, it will do what exactly? Charge them $170 plus the Featured fee but as a One Time charge? For now I have disabled the One Time Package. Until I either get some detailed instructions from you on how to make this work or you add the Featured upgrade option to the client dashboard area.
And Yet no one replied with an answer. I'm looking for the same thing. Its amazing how many Theme Authors Start a business and do not have the people to support it.
