Remove sidebar

How to remove sidebar? Even i remove widget the blank sidebar still there. Do you have layout option to make full width column?

Edit for child theme. I need to copy this file from main theme folder and paste to child theme folder. Then Edit it right?

Some time browsers does create compatibility issue with child theme.
So we does not recommend for child theme.

If I Install new themes update, I will loss this edited file if I'm not using child theme right? So which the best way

 

I try to modify the theme using page.php but not working. Only edit at index.php only can remove the sidebar. However sidebar beside recent post only removed but sidebar beside categories still there.

For category page sidebar you have two options one is to remove it from category page from coding and another one is to remove it from CSS code.
