I set the theme, I include 4000 items and after that the site was very slow.
The theme has a limit of items?

Was it ever very fast? My experience is that I have to adjust the plugin "quick cache" every so often although my site is nowhere near your sites size! Theres also a big difference in load time on mine depending if I am logged in or not and I'm not sure yet if the listings image file size is having an effect also!

Thing is to use a cache plugin - there are several of them available - perhaps some forum users will tell us their experiences of this.

If your able to adjust your Apache settings you can use mod_cache and mod_file_cache too. They are considered suitable for production use since APache 2.2. Here is the link: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/caching.html
If you can't then possible a service ticket with your ISP to get it done. If not then here is a reasonable comparison of plugins: http://www.tutorial9.net/tutorials/web-tutorials/wordpress-caching-whats-the-best-caching-plugin/
BTW this is not my site or comparison but it seems reasonable.

Initially, thank you for interest in my problem.
Russmnh, my web server is nginx, also thought the problem was the apache so I made the switch to nginx.

But I really think the problem is related to programming theme or theme actually have a limitation

Anyone had this problem? A very large quantity of items?

Guys: here's a link to test your website speed from Google: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights

    @rogerb: your site is 28/100
@walter: for some reason your site didn't register with the test

I posted another thread about a new web host I moved to and now do 80/100. I don't know how speed would be in other continents besides US and Europe, but might be worth discussing with them: www.lightningbase.com

Aside from that, how do you manage to get 4000 to subscribe ?

    Do you mind sharing ?

Agree that this site http://www.comprasnobras.com.br (with 4000 nominations) does load very slowly. The other site is unreachable for some reason.

I have 3500 "items" in my database and this site is very slow too. I've experimented with WS Super Cache, W3TC, and just about every setting imaginable. My time-to-first-byte (TTFB) numbers are like 8-9 seconds.

    www.resaleshopping.com

I host on a GoDaddy shared server. I really think the problem is with the theme itself.

Hey sobebrian - your site 'www.resaleshopping.com' seems to load pretty fast for me now.

It would be really helpful to know what you have done to get it to load that fast and also who you host with now.

    I did a bit of research with a cool tool - www.whoishostingthis.com

Can you confirm if you are now with this hosting company...and share any other info / insights on optimising Geocraft for fastest loading.

    Thank you in advance!
