On a specific category page you get all the images on the slider not just the ones for that particular category, Is that right?.
So if you have it set so a plumber shows as a feature on the plumber category page, it also shows up in all the other category pages as well

Front page slider is implemented just to show main listing image. It is not possible to set it for all five images.

Sorry I musnt have made myself clear.

I am only talking about one image per listing.

What I am trying to say is if you have a number of different categories that all have featured posts, all those show up in each category page in the slider. ie the slider does not just show featured plumbers posts in the plumbers category and featured locksmiths in the locksmith category etc. it shows all the featured posts on the site? The slider is not unique to each category.

Is that the way it is supposed to be ?

good question. I thought the slider would allow categories to be featured upon categories pages. that's a logical way folks looking for something expect to find it.

another thing, because the theme puts the category name on the title of the category page featured items section, it really looks like they should be the featured items in THAT category. this is misleading to the person using this directory.... is there some way to remove the featured listings altogether when going to a category page?

This issue appears when you setup your own custom permalink. We created this feature in a way to catch the category string from the default permalink structure and display the listings from that particular category type.

We have a planned theme upgrade which will make the feature listings based on category appear for the custom permalink as well.
