I'm a new wordpress user and I can't seem to incorporate a blog into my site (gomero template) while keeping my homepage static. I've experimented with the settings>reading to make the change, but "home" isn't an option in the pull-down menu. Only the pages I created appear in the list but not the home page. Seems like the solution ought to be pretty elementary. Can anyone walk me through this?
Hello, Follow the steps given below. 1. Create your blog page from the Pages > Add New panel by selecting the blog page template from the page attributes section. 2. Create your posts from the Posts > Add New panel. 3. Go to the Appearance >Theme Options > General Settings and make the front page off . 4. Go to Reading Settings panel (Settings > Reading) and select your static page. This will solve your issue.
Hi Piyush -- Thanks for your response. I followed all the instructions and at the last step clicked the button for static page -- at that point there are two drop-down menus one says front page the other says post page. There is no "home" page option to select in the Front Page drop-down menu. With nothing selected in the font page section it reverts to the blog page and the home page is gone from view and cannot be accessed even by clicking home. The only way to bring the home page back into view is to go back under Appearance>theme options>general settings and turn the front page back on. I'm guessing that the issue is with those drop down menus in the settings>readings section. Any other ideas?
Hello, There is some confusion. I think you are trying to create a blog page while keeping frontpage as it is now. So just follow process given below. Create your blog page from the Pages > Add New panel by selecting the blog page template from the page attributes section. Create your posts from the Posts > Add New Post. and there is no need to do any thing in the reading settings. Just leave it at it's default settings.
