If I create a website for a client and they continue to manage it when it's done, how do updates work for them? If the theme needs to be updated, would I just log into their website and do the update for them? How do I know when a new update is available?

    Hello,

If you have purchased the theme by yourself, you can simply log in to your members area account and download the updated version and later you can install the updated version of the theme to your client's website.

    Thanks & Regards

Is it easy to install the updated version of the theme to the client's website? I've used a wordpress theme where it automatically pops up in wordpress and you just click "update." How does it work when using Inkthemes? Also, how do you know when there is a new update?

Sorry...I'm just brand new to this. How do you know if there is a theme update available? Will it say that there is one when you log into the member area? Where is the Members Area? Is that "My Account?" If you need to install the latest version of the theme to the client's website, how would you do that? Are there instructions somewhere? Before I get started with building sites, I just want to make sure I understand all of this and don't get into a jam.

    Hello,

    1. Remember your theme version, and in the members area(Your My Account) Theme displays with latest versions if you find that it is latest version as compare to your theme, just download it and upload on your site.
    2. Your My Account is members area.
    3. Following link will help you to upload latest theme on client's website.

    That will resolve your issue.

When you delete the current theme and upload the latest theme on the client's website, if you didn't change code at all, you won't lose any of your work? Everything will still be there as it was before?

    Hello,

Before Updating theme always keep backup of your site like database, custom CSS.
You can use Import/Export functionality of wordpress to keep backup.
You can also use some wordpress plugins for backup.

    Thanks & Regards

I have a backup through my hosting company, but do you have to use it when updating the theme or only if there is a problem? For the most part, if you update the website to the newer version, does it automatically just keep all of your content like it was before the update?

    Hello,

Your hosting company keeps your whole data backup but wordpress plugin keeps backup only for wordpress and only for your theme(site).
When updating theme, data doesn't lost if you didn't make any changes in theme. But in case some data will lost at time of theme update so we keep our backups.

    Thanks & Regards
