Updating Wordpress to 4.2.2

Hi

Will my installation of Blackriders theme V1.1.4 be okay if I update to Wordpress 4.2.2 or is there a theme update I should apply first? Many thanks

I will suggest you to first update the WordPress latest version and then install our theme's latest version by downloading it from members area i.e. 2.1.1
As you have mentioned you are using Blackriders theme V1.1.4 .
After installation if you have any doubts let me know I am there to assist you.

Also, it is recommended to create a backup of your site content and theme before doing any changes.

Thanks Sameer. I have updated to Wordpress 4.2.2 but just need a bit more advice on updating the Blackrider theme. Most themes allow you to update automatically from the appearance tab but that option is not available for Blackriders. In my account info the blackdridertheme.zip is available for download but BlackRiders WordPress Theme v2.1.2 underneath it is greyed out.

If I manage to download the update how do I apply the update from a zip file?

Do not worry, kindly download the blackdridertheme.zip file from members area.




Also BlackRiders WordPress Theme v2.1.2 is greyed out because it is just a theme version description part of downloadable zip file.

Sorry I have never done a manual theme update before. Do I just upload all those files over the ones on my site now?

That's great. I have customised the theme with additional code (supplied by you) and custom colour graphics/icons will the update change them or should it leave them in place

I will glad to inform you that the theme updation not effect the changes.

If still it happens let us know will assist you accordingly.

Also it is recommended also to create a theme backup.

To create a backup of your theme, install and activate WP EDITOR plugin.
and go to Dashboard->Appearance->Theme Editor and click download theme button to download your current theme.

Now go to Dashboard->Tools where you will find Export website contents.
just do like this and in this way your site's backup would be ready.
