I have noticed the tone of some support requests are getting blunt and rude - there is no need - and it's not going to serve us all in the bigger picture of finding solutions to theme issues.

This theme has many great points, and at the same time still a number of problems or issues that are unresolved. This is frustrating for all, but being rude in your support requests will not encourage staff to help.

Would you want to help people who are rude to you?

Just a simple, albeit slightly patronising request to remain civil, polite and patient in your forum communications...

I fully support your comments and thank the support team for all their work, the theme had been a great work in progress and can only be developed to the full by support from the users as everyone see's the theme from a different angle or use, no one team can complete the journey in one step. Just look at the development of WPress in the last year. Thanks again to support team for a great theme and molatin for this thread.

I have been through giving them my login.

    They solved my problem.

I ask numerous questions, they answer what they can. I don't expect them to be miracle workers. Heck no one can.

When all else fails, use stackoverflow, forums, or a simple Google search.

They are kind, and try their best. If you persist they generally try and take the time to solve the problem for you. Either on your own server, or if the need is there, then to implement or fix it in the next theme update.

I could go ahead and think of more ways to better this theme, however I take it upon myself to add it myself, as it is ridiculous to ask a staff that I do not pay to do my work.

To ask for more features to a theme that has a list of functionality on the page you buy it from is pretty ignorant. You are buying the theme that has that functionality, anything else that you may want to add is not up to the support staff, but up to you good sir. Sure you can request it, they can say yes or no. If they say yes, you are lucky, and get free work. If they say no, well then like I said before:

My two cents to you Mitch; Get a refund.
    You don't seem happy.

@n2rga: your frustration is widely known on this forum and although some of it may be warranted I would offer this advice: manage your expectations, accept what they will and will not do, and don't vent openly. We all have specific ideas on what we would like the theme to do for us, some are common, others unique. I have come to the point where I now have a child theme that has all of my custom coding (why? because I got tired of it getting overwritten whenever they "touched" my code to fix one thing, and it broke another - lesson learned).

I also have another development team that manages the child with my customizations. They test the updates, make the changes, and "guard" the code to prevent "bad things" from happening.

If you look at the home page of this forum, you will see that there are other themes besides Geocraft. Ink authors support all of those customers too. Geocraft is probably their most complicated theme, and for less than $100 we all got a heck of a lot of value.

Best of luck and wishing you continued success.

n2rga - you chose to use this theme for your directory.

You continue to choose to use it for your directory by the fact that are still here and have not chosen otherwise.

If you don't like it, the support or the results your getting - go elsewhere.

Your incessant, ungrateful ranting leaves a bad taste.

Make a choice that serves you and others - support, forum members and your clients - then simply get on with it to the best of your ability and that of those who offer ongoing support.

So, I am the newbie here. So far my experience has been really good. The support team DOES seem to do a really good job an d I am generally very happy. That's not to say that I am not somewhat frustrated at time.... I have probably just managed to do was was suggested above.... I manage my expectations. The core issue, I believe, is the business model (Ink Themes is not the only one that falls victim to this) that allows us to purchase a theme/piece of software and then expect to get a lifetime license with free updates/upgrades. I suspect that if we were all paying a small annual "maintenance" fee that it would be a lot easier for any of the vendors, who adopt this model, to be more responsive. The trouble is that the "market"... us/we ... expect to buy it once... cheap.... and then use it forever.

    We deserve what we get...

    So.. here's what I suggest.

    1) InkThemes institutes a new premium level membership with a reasonable annual price that includes more responsive support AND more responsive upgrades

    or

    2) We as a community suggest new features or mods.... vote on them as active members... and then contribute to a fund to have the most popular features instituted. There are some obvious flaws in this plan.... free loaders being the biggest.... but if we publicized, here in the forum, who contributes and who doesn't and InkThemes prioritizes our paid mods above all others (security and bug fixes excluded) I'll be good with it.

    Sorry to be long winded!

Sounds ignorant. Go buy those themes, be happy with what THEY supply. Stop complaining here and trying to get them to do work for you. Because implementing one theme, into another. Is WORK.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of support I have received.
Knowing I can ask questions here and mostly receive a reply, gives me the confidence to push the theme a little. Based on this I have bought the Local business theme too.

I suggest that 'community spirit' would be the best way to move forward.
If more people would post and answer some of the more basic problems people come across then this would afford the ink-team more time to spend on the tricky stuff?

Anyway as my old Dad used to say.

Personally I have no idea how they do all they do for all of us that need so much attention with such a complicated program. Yes, I have gotten frustrated when trying to solve something I want answers to 'now' but I am very thankful they always have given support & solved the situations that arose for me....
You can get frustrated but that doesn't mean you have to get rude or ignorant in any remarks here in the forums!
