Unable to VIEW page after changed Listing Title in Dashboard, because it keep using Old Listing Title as Link. Old URL: http://www.ibatupahat.com/en/listing/my-lovely-cake-house/ New URL: http://www.ibatupahat.com/en/listing/advertising-studio/
I have tested this theory on my site as well, and have found the same results. It appears that WordPress first publishes the post and titles it. Geocraft has no functionality to change the title after the fact, it merely changes the visible title. To change the link title would probably mean a lot of duplicates, or for posts to be deleted then re-made. Or your back end will be cluttered with a lot of pending posts when the user constantly changes the title. This is an issue for people who publish their post, and constantly change the title, as sending links to their pages would be rather difficult. Have to wait and see what the support staff say. Sorry I have no immediate fix.
Make sure that if you change the listing title you also change the permalink, if you do not you will get the errors you have shown. Tob
Tob. This is not for the admin, but for the user. The admin will not know when a bunch of titles are changed, and therefore a problem for the site if people are passing around url's to their listing page. You can edit the permalinks, via a request through the user if he/she encounters this. However I can see that a lot of man-hours will be wasted in this process. A function to automatically update the listing permalink would be wonderful however, probably very complex to make.
I doubt a fix will be coming any time soon. This is something to do with wordpress. Do-able, however I do not see this coming in next Geocraft update. Although I am only guessing
Perhaps a slightly easier way to fix this would be to remove the ability to change the title of the listing, not perfect but maybe easier to implement and I can't see the harm in not being able to change the listing title although I guess it depends how you're using the theme!
is it very hard to maintain it and fix this function, because i think this function is good, because if the client change his mind to publish other topic then it need to change the title. i agree that you mention "it depends how you're using the theme!" , I may delete the listing and rebuilt a new listing, but if possible , try fix it, because it will increase admin job, because we provide my client Lifetime Account. thank you.
