Yep another thread about search

So testing the search feature on my site.... not working.

Yes I have disabled the plugins one by one.

What data does the search gather ? is it tags in listings or google maps?

I am getting nothing found when I know there are listings there.

I need a fix asap.

I have also searched the forum with no real answers to this problem.

Would appreciate a reply within the next month or so

It seems this problem has been going on for months looking at the other threads. I find it really frustrating that the support on this forum is very slow and also not very helpful. I have seen countless threads about this search feature problem, with no real answer to the problem.

I can see threads go back 3-5 months with the same problem. surly this must be fixed by now... Being such a big part of the theme???

I would like to see a definitive answer to this problem.

My site is live and everyday I open emails saying.... your search function is not working.

I still think it needs a lot more work. Most people who visit the site are going to get 0 results because of what they have entered. Not just my site but other peoples on here.

post codes don't seem to work.

Some locations don't work

most search phases don't work

I think I have about 7 emails from my customers asking why their listing is not showing up.

The Search feature in GeoCraft had undergone several updates as suggested by different users and the search field you see on the top of the page are able to search listing title, content, categories, tags and location very accurately. The query which we run inside the GeoCraft theme for searching are very powerful and displays very precise results.

 

Check your email and you will see examples of searches.

They are very simple search phases like

pest control - London

bed bugs - London

I know these are in tags and categories

 

As long as your Address field doesn't have "London" keyword in it. The location based search query will not bring the results. The second field searches specifically the Address field with keyword in it.

For detailed search, I would recommend you to include the complete address in your business listings. For example lots of listings on your site have simple address like 6a, cornwall, sy8 etc. Having a detailed address in your added business listings will bring good results for the user and users to your website will be able to find the listings easily and precisely.

Actually I'm having trouble with search. It is not finding 'listing tags' so if the keyword is not in the 'Listing Tile' it wont get found.
More embarrassingly, it can't find its own categories. So if someone searches 'Category name' in 'Listed location' it doesn't find it.
I'm sure it wasn't this bad, so I want to re-install but it wont let me! I've asked for support via email the team have helped me before.
