Yes, I agree with others. A person who wants to claim a listing that admin setup, Must Also be Able to Select the Free Option if admin allows it in the setting. This important option needs to be implemented into the Theme ASAP.

I am also interested in this feature. Why? Some of the information I have entered for a Free Listing may be incorrect. I would like a business owner to be able to Claim the listing, update the limited information it might contain, and leave it as free. Why? If they have a free listing with correct information, then they may get phone calls or traffic from the listing - which would be a compeling reason to later upgrade to a Paid listing!

Please let me know as well, when this is available.

Have installed v2.0.6 and find several issues Priyanka.

    1. Although the free listing option is shown with its radio button active - in fact the user still has to select it or a warning appears. This is confusing to the user, if the button is shown as active then the user should not have to reselect it to proceed.

    2. In the admins IDE it simply shows as pending with no detail as to why i.e. is it a new listing awaiting approval or is it a claimed listing which needs special attention!. If there are many pending listings awaiting attention its extremely difficult to sort the reasons for their pending status before approving a listing - perhaps incorrectly.

    3. After the listing has been claimed and approved shouldn't the Claimable Listing Checkbox in the listing have automatically have been set to inactive?

Also, why is the them update not showing inside of WordPress as updates to plugins and themes usually do?
BTW thanks Roger, for keeping up the thread on this feature - I think it very beneficial. In fact, I kind of (wrongly) assumed the process would work the way you describe it.

    Fingers crossed.

This issue of updating is down to the developers not doing things correctly - that or its an Inkthemes policy!

What about the totally outdated pinned posts at the top of this list - no one at Inkthemes seems to have ownership of these forums!

Well, well, well . . . someone is listening at Inktheme's as the totally outdated pinned posts have been removed and have been updated - well done to someone who has taken ownership of this.

All we want is the level of support expected from a company of Inkheme's size, better communications on this forum and version update notices in the Wordpress IDE.

Its not rocket science but at least a start has been made!

    Hello Roger,

I would like to answer your queries in following ways:

    1. Although the free listing option is shown with its radio button active - in fact, the user still has to select it or a warning appears.

Answer: We have got your concern and really appreciate your above two suggestions. I will discuss with our developer about the same, We will try our best to make our theme more user-friendly in the next update.

    3. After the listing has been claimed and approved shouldn't the Claimable Listing Checkbox in the listing have automatically have been set to inactive?

Answer: The Claim Listing feature should work for all users so, that won't uncheck from the backend.

    Thanks!

I have not yet launched, but am pre-populating my directory with all Free lisings. An improvement on the 'Claim Listing' functinality would definitely be appreciated. What about update notifications inside of WP when the theme is updated?

    Hi Naveen,

The point about the claimable listing checkbox is that if left as is others will attempt to claim it.

As soon as a user submits the listing claim the checkbox should be deactivated to prevent others also trying to claim the listing and flooding the admin area with unnecessary listing claims which take time to go through to verify.

    Hello Rogerb!

I have got your concern and received lots of queries regarding this but, many users wanted to make it unchecked for other users.

That's why we have implemented the same in our theme.

    Thanks!

I'm sorry to say that I cannot understand your statement "many users wanted to make it unchecked for other users, that's why we have implemented the same in our theme."

Initially yes it should be unchecked perhaps but when a listing has been claimed it should be UNCHECKED so that another user cannot also claim it. What would be the point it leaving the listing to be claimed by others?

Failure to do this automatically means it becomes yet another administration task.

You have not implemented this in your theme!

    Hello Roger,

I tried to clarify that - Most of the users suggested us that the feature must be claimable if it has been already claimed by any user.

Could you please let me know, what should be the functionality of claim listing you are looking for. we will try to implement it in your site if possible.

    Warm Regards!

I'm sorry but I find this difficult to believe so at the risk of repeating myself:

    1) If a user creates a listing for themselves on their own account it should NOT be claimable by anyone else!

    2) If a user has claimed a listing and it has been approved by an administrator it should NOT continue to be claimable by anyone else!

    3) If a user has claimed a listing it should have been automatically made UNCLAIMABLE, it should not be for an administrator to have to find these listings and manually make them UNCLAIMABLE. In the IDE there is no way to search to find the listings that require this attention and makes for extra work.

Exactly how many users have suggested this because I certainly didn't and I haven't seen that suggested on this forum.
    .
Reading all of your posts above you seem to have contradicted yourself in post #33

I would respectfully suggest that you escalate this to your Geocraft project leader as there has obviously not been enough thought given to the implementation of this feature and how it works.

    Alright..Roger!

    Here are my answers:

    1) If a user creates a listing for themselves on their own account it should NOT be claimable by anyone else!
In this case, the user won't make any listing claimable from back end, so there will be no Claiming button appears.

    2) If a user has claimed a listing and it has been approved by an administrator it should NOT continue to be claimable by anyone else!
I have got your concern, will try to do something like that in its next update.

    3) If a user has claimed a listing it should have been automatically made UNCLAIMABLE, it should not be for an administrator to have to find these listings and manually make them UNCLAIMABLE. In the IDE there is no way to search to find the listings that require this attention and makes for extra work.
I have got your concern, will try to do something like that in its next update.

OK thanks Naveen, I appreciate your looking to the next update for some of these things and I understand what you are saying on item 1 so I await the next release.

So... when I do my bulk import of Free Listings, does that mean I should leave the 'Listing Author ID' blank in order for the Free listings to remain Claimable?
