    1. If its not a silly question why don't you just increase the dimensions in the theme so we don't have to manually change ?

    2. On the listcat page the image are still cropped, where do we make changes to correct that please ?
    thanks

I agree, it's not. It seems that no matter which option we take, the front page is going to look ill-designed, and this is bad news for business. If you do the dimensional changes to eliminate cropping, it compresses the "optimal size" image. So we have a choice of compressed, or cropped, but not normal.
This is a lose-lose situation. Please fix this design error so that your optimal size for images fits the home page slider, surely the most important feature of the entire website, so that the image is proportional in all sliders - or how can we charge money for this feature? Or breed confidence in advertisers when that is the first thing that they see? Advertisers paying for sliders will complain if their ad is distorted, especially considering that we are giving them optimal size recommendations in the (edited) description and then it doesn't work in the slider correctly...

    Hello All,

Theme contain two sliders with different dimension one at front page (215 x 160) and second at single listing (450 x 270)px.
In single listing slider you can add image of any dimension. It will display full image without cropping.
But dimension of front page slider is small so cropping is required there otherwise images will look compressed.
So if you don't want to crop your images then

Go to the Appearance > Editor > front-page.php
and make changes at line number
    82, 84,
    156, 158,
    220, 222

    Or

If admin itself adding listings then adding "featured image" of size (215 x 160)px is also a solution. Featured image will display at the front page and category page slider.
So edit your listing, featured image option is at the right bottom (below widgets) of your screen.

Yes, I did that from your last instruction - but the front slider is not proportional.
The design needs to be changed by admin for those that can't make the changes (I can), however even if they do, yes, it eliminates cropping, but it means that the images still must be compressed to fit the home page slider?
there is no real optimal size, as it is out of proportion either on one of the sliders PLUS the actual listing
No one wants a solution that involves the owner having to adjust each new listing...
